Kleiner Prinz

about

On a former casern area in Munich-Bogenhausen, Europe's largest coherent timber construction model district, the Prinz-Eugen-Quartier, has been created. The quartier consists of a heterogeneous mix of different residential building typologies. Part of it is the project "Der kleine Prinz" by the Munich office Dressler Mayerhofer Rössler Architekten und Stadtplaner with 24 atrium houses and two solitary houses in timber construction. The residential developments are complemented by community outdoor areas as well as indoor spaces such as working spaces. Landscape architectural concepts for the green spaces go beyond the boundaries of the individual building sites within the quartier in which efficient typologies were created to allow for various housing types. The buildings are conceived as "empty shells" within which the residents can design the space according to their needs and later conversion is possible without any problems. The Prinz-Eugen-Quartier stands for sustainable building as a holistic concept, which includes both constructive and socio-economic aspects.
