In direct proximity to an existing site, a new workshop for people with disabilities was built for Isar-Würm-Lech GmbH in Landsberg am Lech. The building is constructed using a hybrid timber construction system. Concrete is only used in the workshop building for certain parts of the ceiling or as load-bearing supports where it is necessary for structural reasons. The upper storeys, including the roof structure, are built entirely in timber. Timber is also primarily used as a surface material in the interior and exterior. To ensure daylight in the interior despite the considerable depth of the building, light enters via north-facing shed roofs. The wood waste from the joinery and the waste heat generated by the air compressor are used as an energy source for heating and hot water generation. Different areas of use with different room temperature requirements were defined to optimise the energy supply, which are seperated from each other by buffer zones. The building and room structure is designed so that conversions or extensions can be carried out without any problems. Thus, all technology is also accessible for maintenance and potential conversion.
